Make sure that you only have one winsock installed as some programs may become confused and thus not work properly. You can verify the number of winsocks on your computer by using the Win95 Find Command:

START \ Find winsock\Find Now

If you still have an old winsock.dll on your system, rename or delete it. If you had to rename or delete a winsock.dll, you must reboot your computer. With the Win95, most Internet applications (i.e. winsock) work fine. However, TRUMPET's winsock does not work with the 32-bit Internet applications.

Note: Each Bullet below represents the choice that should be selected when setting up.

Click on the MY COMPUTER icon -- then proceed by making the choices that are outlined below:

• Control Panel
• Add-Remove Programs
• Windows Setup Tab
• Communications Tab
• Dial-Up Networking option (must be checked), then follow the instructions on the screen.

Click on the MY COMPUTER icon -- then select the below answers when prompted:

• Control Panel
• Network
• Configuration Tab (if the TCP/IP option is not displayed , then install it : Configuration Tab)
• ADD
• Protocol
• ADD
• Microsoft
• TCP/IP -- click OK

Under the CONFIGURATION TAB -- Choose the following selections:

• TCP/IP
• Properties
• DNS Configuration
• Enable DNS (check option)
• "HOST" (you must enter something -- so enter anything -- i.e. "x")
• "DOMAIN" carroll.com
• "DNS Server Search Order"
• primary DNS 199.224.10.2, secondary DNS 165.254.2.51
• ADD
• "Domain Suffix Search Order" -- carroll.com
• ADD
• IP Address Tab
• Obtain an IP address automatically

Click on the MY COMPUTER icon -- and make the following selections:

• Dial-Up Networking
• Make a New Connection
• Type a Name: Carroll-Net
• Select a modem
• Next
• Telephone number:

Please call for a local phone number

• Next
• Finish

Connecting to the INTERNET:

Click on the MY COMPUTER icon -- then make the following selections:

• Dial-Up Network
• Carroll-Net ICON
• Fill in user name and password on the Connect To window
• Connect
• Now you can start your Internet Access Programs, i.e. Eudora, Internet Explorer, etc...
