Carroll-Net,
Inc. Release Date: May 29, 2001Media Contact: Caryl Bixon (201) 796-7788 CARROLL-NET CONTRACTED AS APPLICATION SERVICE PROVIDER FOR SHOCK TECH;
“TOTAL SOLUTION” ASP MEETS TECHNOLOGY NEEDS Shock Tech Inc. of Monsey, New York, has joined the growing list of small and mid-size firms who have contracted Carroll-Net of Hackensack, New Jersey, as its Application Service Provider (ASP). A full-service Internet firm, Carroll-Net is one of the first companies in New Jersey to offer “total solution” ASP services for its clients. Founded in 1989, Shock Tech designs and manufactures shock and vibration mounts for defense applications. Its products are used to protect commercial off-the-shelf equipment used in tanks, ships, airplanes and other machinery from shock, vibration and radio interference. Shock Tech products also have an expanding presence in the communication industry. The company maintains a growing staff that currently includes 40 professionals involved in engineering, manufacturing, testing and administration. “Because we are a small company, we cannot dedicate resources for a full in-house MIS department,” noted Kevork Kayayan, president of Shock Tech. “In the past, we used consultants to maintain our basic LAN, but the cost and the lack of immediate, on-site response when problems arose frustrated us. The bottom line is that we are not in the computer business. That led us to ASP.” Shock Tech had already used Carroll-Net as its Internet Service Provider, and Carroll-Net invited the firm’s management to look at another client’s recently-installed ASP application. “Our team saw ASP working for that company and immediately decided that it was the way for us to go,” Kayayan said. As an ASP, Carroll-Net functions similarly to a traditional service bureau that manages and delivers its clients’ enterprise data and applications across a wide area network. In addition, ASP clients have instant access to their data from anywhere via the Internet. Ultimately, ASP is an all-encompassing model for the integration and usage of Internet, Intranet and Extranet. “Shock Tech provides an excellent example of the type of business best served by ASP,” said Jim Carroll, president of Carroll-Net. “The firm is growing rapidly, yet does not have or wish to have internal IT expertise. It had outgrown its existing business system and found itself faced with the daunting task of updating its technology — a task that can be highly complex and very costly.” Carroll-Net assisted Shock Tech in selecting and implementing its new application, which Carroll-Net hosts in its data center. As an ASP customer, Shock Tech also receives a full office suite, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and email programs with virus scanning, as well as high-speed Internet access, a firewall and an e-commerce platform. TOTAL SOLUTION ASP OFFERS CAREFREE IT As a total solution ASP, Carroll-Net handles all of its clients’ IT needs, including infrastructure, applications, business systems and e-commerce functions. This allows clients to re-focus from managing IT to managing their businesses, according to Carroll. “Our clients no longer need to worry about computer issues and systems,” he said. “They simply determine the desired results, and then let us handle the rest. They pay only for what they need, on a subscription basis. This eliminates many financial and operational obstacles associated with leading-edge technologies, allowing businesses of any size to achieve the leveraging capability of the largest corporations.” ### Founded in 1994, Carroll-Net is a premier Internet company providing total Internet and Intranet solutions. In addition to ASP, this includes Internet access, message services, business web services, e-commerce capabilities and developments, and web design services. Carroll-Net is a unique Internet company in that the firm has been profitable since its inception. Carroll-Net services approximately 3,000 customers primarily in the New Jersey/New York metropolitan area, including 1,000 commercial customers involved in diverse industries. Carroll-Net’s client niche includes companies ranging from 50 to 500 users, but the firm’s customers are as large as 5,000 employees with operations worldwide. The company continues to expand its client base and services to meet the dynamic demands of today’s business environment. Carroll-Net, Inc. Copyright, Carroll-Net, Inc. 2000 |
