INTERNATIONAL CORP. RETAINS CARROLL-NET AS APPLICATION SERVICE PROVIDER Carroll-Net,
a full-service Internet company based in Hackensack, New Jersey, has been
retained as an Application Service Provider (ASP) for MH&W
International Corp. of Mahwah, New Jersey. One of New Jersey’s first
ASPs, Carroll-Net functions similar to a traditional service bureau that
manages and delivers its clients’ enterprise data and applications
across a wide area network. In addition, MH&W has instant access to
its data from anywhere via the Internet. MH&W
is a well-established international distributor of ferrite cores, which
are electrical components primarily used in the manufacturing of power
supplies and other equipment. “We had outgrown our existing IT
infrastructure and wanted an updated set of business tools to help us
operate more efficiently and competitively,” said John Iozzia, MH&W’s
IT manager. “Contracting with an ASP was the logical choice for us,
eliminating the high costs, lengthy implementation and steep learning
curve involved in upgrading our systems in-house.” Following
a comprehensive needs analysis, Carroll-Net rolled MH&W’s existing
data into the Carroll-Net data center, and provided the necessary hardware
to enable MH&W to access its information as well as updated software
applications through the Internet. Within 30 days, MH&W was up and
running with the most current system available. “For
a mid-size organization, the ASP arrangement provides immeasurable
benefits,” Iozzia noted. “We now have the same tools as the big
corporations which will enable us to take our company to a new level. In
addition, we have eliminated the task of maintaining hardware and
replacing it every 18 months. And our costs are known because we pay only
for what we need on a subscription basis.” The
switch also has allowed MH&W’s warehouse facilities in New York,
California and Texas, along with its affiliate office – MH&W
International (Canada) Ltd. – to access company data. “Integration has
been a long-term goal, however the expenditures involved in installing
telecom lines, hardware and networking presented a significant
obstacle,” Iozzia said. “Now all of our offices can connect over the
Internet as we do from our headquarters location.” According
to Jim Carroll, president of Carroll-Net, ASP is the next logical step in
the continuing evolution of the IT service providers industry. “An ASP
is the all-encompassing model for the integration and usage of Internet,
Intranet and Extranet,” he explained. “Customers like MH&W have
access anywhere, anytime to their information, while we ensure data
integrity and help them to transform and grow their businesses using
e-commerce.” A
LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIP MH&W
has utilized Carroll-Net for Internet access and email services for more
than five years. This long-term relationship was key in its decision to
retain the company as its ASP, according to Iozzia. “We
knew that we would rely heavily on our ASP, and dependability was a
critical component in our decision-making process,” he said. “From
past experience, we know that Carroll-Net has the capabilities, personnel
and track record to manage our needs. The company invested the time to

services. In fact, after analyzing our operations, Carroll-Net helped us
to streamline our accounting and inventory procedures by eliminating
