| Dialup-PPP |
|
The best way to
access the Internet is through a Dialup-PPP account through
Carroll-Net. It is simple to configure and flexible enough to meet
the most demanding needs. It's flexibility empowers the user to
access all resources on the Internet.
With a Dialup-PPP
account, a subscriber can surf the web, jump into real-time chat,
send and receive email, and shop online all with the
click of a mouse. Some of the programs that can be used with a
Dialup-PPP account include (but are not limited to): Netscape,
MS Internet Explorer, Eudora,
FTP, Telnet.
A Dialup-PPP account
from Carroll-Net includes a password protected mailbox where we
store your unread email.
In addition, a
Dialup-PPP account includes free Personal-PPP web space for a
subscriber to publish their own web pages. It
also includes our standard active usage access policy.
A Carroll-Net
Dialup-PPP account is $18 a month, paid quarterly with a one-time
setup fee of $40. There are no hourly charges. It includes 3MB a

Carroll-Net offers
56K dialup. This is the same service as Dialup-PPP with the
additional service of access to our 56K dialup modem pool. This
provides download speed of nearly twice as fast as the standard 33.6
modem pool.
Carroll-Net 56K
accounts are $24.95 a month paid quarterly, with a onetime setup fee
of $40.
Our standard active
usage access policy is designed to give all users maximum access to
the Internet. It states while online you must be actively using your
connection. Each account has a soft limit of 120-hours a month. If
you feel that you will be idle for 10-minutes or more, we ask that
you hang-up and call back later.
Each subscriber
agrees to keep their usage below this soft limit. At present there
is no charge for going over the soft limit. Carroll-Net reserves the
right to deal with chronic or malicious abuses of this policy.

Shared
Mailbox |
|
Carroll-Net offers
shared mailboxes for PPP subscribers. Many subscribers give these
accounts to family and close friends to include them on the
Internet. With it, a family member can have their own email address
which is visible to the entire Internet community.
We will manage up to
five additional mailboxes on one PPP account. Each mailbox has it's
own password so sharers have privacy. In addition, shared mailboxes
have their own private login id. This gives mailbox subscribers the
ability to be logged into their account for email, while the main
PPP account holder is using the service elsewhere.
Shared mailboxes cost
$5 a month per mailbox paid quarterly. The responsibility for shared
mailboxes is that of the PPP account holder.

Domain
Parking |
|
Carroll-Net will
register a domain of your choice with the Internet. This
registration reserves a name on your behalf. Some people wish this
done in advance of being prepared to use it. By doing it early, you
are guaranteed that no one else may reserve this name (and thus
avoid domain kidnapping).
Domain Registration
costs $50 a year, with a one time registration fee of $60. Note:
Email Domain and Virtual Domain accounts include this service (this
charge does not apply). This account is only for those people that
wish domains registered, but have no immediate plans for their use.
The InterNIC, the
central database authority on the Internet, will also charge a
customer who requests a domain to be registered. Their charge is $50
a year with the requirement that customers pre-pay for 2 years in
advance. They will bill the domain customer directly.

Email
Domain |
|
For many people,
email is the most important application of the Internet. The ability
to send and receive mail, to anyone, anywhere, virtually instantly
becomes part of their everyday life.
Many users feel email
is so essential, that they wish to have their own unique domain. A
domain provides them with a distinct identity that is separate from
the domain of their Internet Access Provider.
With an Email Domain
from Carroll-Net, we register your domain name with the Internet. We
then act as an intermediate post-office for your email. We store any
email sent to your domain, and deliver it to you when you dial-in.
We also handle delivering any outgoing email you might have.
For example, say you
have a company called Widget Manufacturing. You might decide to
register the name widget.com. The Internet would view widget.com as
a valid domain name for email. Email could then be addressed to
user@widget.com.
Since Carroll-Net
will manage the domain, you can have as many users under your domain
as you want. Once the mail is delivered to your network, a program
on your site can separate the individual mail messages, and place
them into the users' mailboxes. For example, if you registered
widget.com, others could then send email to john@widget.com, info@widget.com,
tech_support@widget.com, sales@widget.com, etc.
Carroll-Net can
provide you with an Business Email Domain for $25/month, with a
one-time setup fee of $60, or a Personal Email Domain for $10/month
with a one-time setup fee of $60. There is NO LIMIT to the number of
users that can share this domain. We do have a maximum combined
mailbox size of 10MB a month for business accounts, and 4MB a month
for personal accounts. Additional storage can be purchased for $5 a
MB per month.
Note: An Email Domain
requires a PPP connection to the Internet.
The InterNIC, the
central database authority on the Internet, will also charge a
customer who requests a domain to be registered. Their charge is $50
a year with the requirement that customers pre-pay for 2 years in
advance. They will bill the domain customer directly.

Virtual
Web Domain |
|
Carroll-Net offers
Virtual Domains as an add-on service to web customers. With a
Virtual Domain, we register a domain name on your behalf with the
Internet. We then allocate a Static-IP address out of our address
space, and assign it to your web space on our web server.
This account creates
the impression to the Internet, that you have your own web site. For
example, say you had a registered domain widget.com. We would create
a URL for your web space of the form: http://www.widget.com
This creates a very
professional and Internet savvy image for your web pages. Other
users who visit your page believe they are accessing your private
resources on the Internet. Also, since you own the domain, you now
have an Internet portable identity.
The additional cost
for a Virtual Web Domain account is $50 a year, with a one-time
setup fee of $60. If you also subscribe for Business Email Domain,
this service is reduced to $25 a year with a one-time setup of $40.
Note: This service
is not available for Personal-PPP web space accounts.
The InterNIC, the
central database authority on the Internet, will also charge a
customer who requests a domain to be registered. Their charge is $50
a year with the requirement that customers pre-pay for 2 years in
advance. They will bill the domain customer directly.

Customer
Support |
|
With the
proliferation of inexpensive computers, and the decrease in
communications costs as a result of telco deregulations, many more
people are finding their way onto the Internet than ever before.
These changes require Internet Access Providers to be more alert to
the needs of new users.
As users find new and
exciting ways to use this new medium, they find they have a critical
need for skilled support and advice. At Carroll-Net, we believe
Customer Support is our most important business.
Carroll-Net offers
subscribers a comprehensive online support system. We make ourselves
available to answer a wide array of questions, ranging from
configuration, to information location techniques. This support is
included as part of your subscription.
You can access our
support services three ways. The first is through online email. Many
find this to be the most convenient, and expedient way to get
questions answered. Our company policy, is that email be replied to
within 1-hour, during the period from 9am - 7pm Monday - Friday. You
can access this support by emailing us at staff@carroll.com
The second form of
support is via our web page system. You can find the answers to many
common questions by clicking here for Customer
Support
Our third form of
technical support is our voice line. We ask that those subscribers
who are experiencing difficulties using email, contact us at
201-488-1332. Our voice support hours are from 9am-7pm,
