How To Setup Windows NT 4.0
- Run Control Panel
- Click the protocols
tab and if you cannot find TCP/IP, click add.
- Select TCP/IP
Protocol, click OK, and follow the instructions on the screen to provide
the secure files to install TCP/IP.
- On the Windows NT
Desktop, double click My Computer and choose Dial-Up Networking.
- Click OK to edit the
Phonebook if this is the first time you click Dial-Up Networking.
- Under Name The New
Phonebook Entry, type: Carroll-Net.
- Then click Next.
- Click Next again to
skip this screen.
- Under Phone Number,
enter your Carroll-Net Phone Number.
- Click Next.
- Click finish.
- In the Dial-Up
Networking box, click More and choose Edit Entry
and Modem Properties.
- Note:
Make sure Dial-Up Networking is installed.
- Click the Server
tab(the Dial-Up Server type should be PPP), and under Network Protocols,
uncheck the IPX/SPX Compatible and NetBEI options.
- Check TCP/IP and
Enable software compression.
- Uncheck "enable
PPP LCP extensions."
- Click TCP/IP Settings
and click Server assigned IP address.
- Under TCP/IP
settings, click Specify Name Server Addresses.
- Add Primary DNS
: 199.224.10.2
- Add
SecondaryDNS: 165.254.2.51
- Check "Use IP
header compression."
- Check "Use
default gateway on remote network."
- Click OK.
- Under the security
tab, click "Accept any authentication including clear text.."
- Click the script tab
and under AfterDialing(Login), click POP Up A Terminal window, then ckick
OK. This option causes you to be prompted with a RAS Terminal window so
you can enter your username and password.
- Click Dial to connect
to Carroll-Net.
- When the terminal
screen appears, type in your "username" and hit return.Then type
your "password" and hit return. Now wait till you see
PPP enabled and an IP address. Then click
"Done" and you can begin using your Internet
Applications.
